AEGIR-Marine has been awarded the prestigious Schuttevaer Award 2025 for its pioneering work in maritime remanufacturing. The company received the award for founding the Maritime Remanufacturing Network, a forward-thinking initiative that is reshaping sustainable maintenance in the maritime industry.
The award was presented at the Schuttevaer Expo, held at RDM Rotterdam. AEGIR-Marine secured the majority of votes from both a professional jury and event visitors after a compelling pitch highlighting their innovative approach. The other finalists were Groeneveldt Marine Construction, Mourik EGP, and the Nedcargo & Den Bosch Max collaboration.
“This award is recognition for a topic that has long flown under the radar,” said Paul Grizell, AEGIR-Marine’s Commercial Director. “Remanufacturing doesn’t just extend a component’s life, it restores it to its original, new-build specifications. That offers major economic and environmental benefits.”
The Maritime Remanufacturing Network was launched in 2023, and its first major project is the remanufacturing of a 20-year-old tunnel thruster. AEGIR-Marine is collaborating with Delft University of Technology, classification society Bureau Veritas, and shipping company JR Shipping.
Winning the Schuttevaer Award gives AEGIR-Marine not just recognition, but also a stronger platform to raise awareness of remanufacturing. “We’d like to thank everyone who voted for us – this award gives us even more energy to push forward with our mission for a more sustainable maritime future,” Grizell concludes.
