Wijk bij Duurstede, 13 March 2019 – AEGIR-Marine’s R&D Testing Facility accommodates state-of-the-art test benches and the latest data analysis software for stern tube sealing parts and propulsion systems.
Investing heavily in R&D allows AEGIR-Marine to service every ship owner with the highest quality possible. Within the testing facility it is even possible to perform tests on tube seal systems and other parts in their natural habitat.
R&D Manager Roy van den Nieuwendijk: “With the equipment in this facility we are now able to change any parameter, and then monitor the impact on the entire system. How does the system respond? How do various spare parts interact? In our sealing system endurance test bench we can generate precisely oil and water pressure and even simulate rolling waves. In this way we are capable of researching the optimum performance of any stern tube sealing system.”
AEGIR also applies its test benches for class approvals. For this, it is necessary to simulate the situation and behavior at sea as realistically as possible.
